Your family will thank you for taking the time to create an estate plan. Whether your needs can be met with a will, a durable power of attorney, and an advance health care directive, or if a revocable trust (also called a living trust) or another type of trust is needed, I can help. Without a written estate plan, or other estate planning tools, upon your death your property will pass to your heirs according to applicable law, but the process isn't automatic. Probate might be needed. For smaller estates property might be transferred through the use of an Affidavit. Having a durable power of attorney signed, notarized, and ready to go can help keep your financial and personal matters going should you become incapacitated, and an advance health care directive tells your doctor your desires regarding end of life decisions and permits another person to act as your agent with regards to the disposition of remains, anatomical gifts and directions concerning autopsies. Estate planning can also help your estate minimize estate and gift taxes.
